Want God to laugh? Make a Plan!

It was Monday. My mom’s delicious German chocolate cake was officially done (hallelujah), and I was back on my fitness journey. I was feeling motivated, clear-headed, and ready to ease into the week with intention.
Step one: clear space in my room.
That meant relocating a temporary clothing rack down to the basement. Simple. Harmless. Productive.
And then—crack.
The metal pole hit the glass casing around a lightbulb. In a split second, shattered glass came down and a shard sliced my knee wide open. Blood everywhere. A clean, deep cut — down to the white meat. Oddly, not much pain… just instant clarity.
Urgent care was now part of the plan.

What started as an innocent Monday chore turned into five stitches and a forced pause. The receptionist was lovely. The nurse practitioner who stitched me up was gentle, kind, and patient. And in a moment that felt too intentional to be coincidence, both of them mentioned they were looking for dance programs for their nieces and grandbabies.
Of course they were.
God, in His infinite wisdom, placed me right where I could still be a blessing — even while being cared for. Even while bleeding. Even while humbled.
I had been ready to attack this week with full force, gearing up for 2026, mind racing ahead, momentum building. And the Lord said, No. Sit back down.
Rest.Reflect.Slow down.
So now, with stitches in my knee and a little extra stillness in my days, I’m listening. I’m honoring the pause. And who knows — maybe I’ll even read a book… for fun.
Because sometimes the most productive thing we can do is stop long enough to hear God laughing — lovingly — as He reroutes us exactly where we need to be.
A Day in the Life of
Erin
