Ease On Down The Road!

It's a cloudy afternoon and I'm singing to the top of my lungs “Ease on Down the Road” from The Wiz, as I take my twists out. Out of nowhere, a phrase leapt out at me in a new way:

“Don’t you give up walking ‘cause you gave up shoes.”

What a profound metaphor for life!

It reminded me that on this journey, we will encounter moments of uncertainty, discomfort, or even loss. Sometimes the road feels long, and the resources don’t seem to match the vision. But the call is to keep walking anyway. To not let the absence of something temporary stop us from reaching the promise that’s waiting ahead.

A Faith Walk Toward Full Circle

This journey to the Full Circle Performing Arts Center has already proven itself to be a faith walk. Each step has required me to lean not just on strategy and planning, but on resilience, community, and an unshakable belief in what God has already shown me.

One thing I know deep in my spirit: IT WILL HAPPEN.

I may not yet know all the “how’s” — but I carry a deep resolve around the when. And I am standing in bold faith, declaring that we will ease on down this road all the way to the ribbon cutting in July 2026.

Choosing to Keep Walking

To me, “don’t give up walking ‘cause you gave up shoes” is an invitation:

  • To walk barefoot if I must.

  • To walk in faith when the facts don’t yet add up.

  • To walk in gratitude for every person who joins me on the path.

The road to Full Circle isn’t just about a building — it’s about modeling resilience for every girl in Black Girls Dance®, showing them what it looks like to hold a vision, claim it boldly, and keep walking toward it no matter what.

So yes — I’m easing on down the road. With faith. With joy. With expectation. And I’m inviting you to walk with me.
